The Transition Year ProgrammeThis is a unique one year programme for students who have completed the Junior Certificate. It provides a bridge to enable them to make the transition from the dependent type of learning associated with the Junior Certificate to the more independent learning environment of Senior Cycle. TY encourages personal and social development and recognises the need for students to grow in independence. TY fosters academic achievement as students prepare to enter the Leaving Certtificate programme, further study, adult and working life. This course encourages the development of a wide range of transferable critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. There are currently 28,000 students in approximately 600 schools countrywide doing Transition Year. TY in Waterpark College is co-ordinated by Mr. Paul Wheatley.
